Blade ‘Stripped Down’ To Mahershala Ali Killing Vampires?

A hilarious new rumor claims the Blade movie has been “stripped down” to where the titular character played by Mahershala Ali is killing vampires.

It’s also claimed the flick will start shooting in the summer.

The news comes amid it claimed Blade has been going through massive problems and rewrites.

Does Marvel have a clue?

The rumor in itself isn’t hilarious, what is hilarious is that it took those at Marvel a whopping five years to figure out Blade should be a movie about killing vampires. Hello.

The film was first announced back at the 2019 San Diego Comic Con where Mahershala Ali appeared on stage in a surprise announcement at the end of the panel.

Reportedly, Blade was the idea of two time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali and when presented to Kevin Feige, Feige liked the idea and decided to move forward with the flick.

Regarding all the problems, fitting with Feige’s woke approach to the MCU since the release of Captain Marvel – interestingly enough also released five yeas ago – rumors have said that the original plan for Blade was to have it focus on other characters than the titular character, played by Mahershala Ali.

All about everyone except Blade

It has been said the plans involved the daughter of Blade (remember it’s the M-She-U not the MCU) set in the past, in the 1920s or so, and being all about the daughter of Blade and/or Blade training a female protégé.

Thanks to a previous report from Variety, it was learned Blade had “gone through at least five writers, two directors and one shutdown six weeks before production.”

The site also revealed that “the story at one point morphed into a narrative led by women and filled with life lessons,” which goes to show you how bad things are at Marvel, as they really thought that was a good idea.

“Blade was relegated to the fourth lead, a bizarre idea considering that the studio had two-time Oscar winner Ali on board,” stated the report.

Feige back to the drawing board

So according to Variety, which back-ups other rumors, “amid reports that Ali was ready to exit over script issues, Feige went back to the drawing board and hired Michael Green, the Oscar-nominated writer of Logan, to start anew.”

Worth a mention is that Logan is about Wolverine and basically his “daughter.”

In it’s current state, Blade has a November 7, 2025 release date directed by Yann Demange.
