Will Smith and Martin Lawrence look to have a hit on their hands with Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the fourth film in the franchise.
According to the early estimates, Bad Boys: Ride or Die is riding to a $50 million box office opening weekend, which is higher than estimated.
Saturday update: Estimates are higher with a possible $53M-$54M opening.
Sunday update: The opening is looking even better with $56 million.
Monday update: Bad Boys Ride or Die opened to $56 million domestically, has a $48.6M international gross, for a current worldwide gross of $104.6M.
Second weekend update: Looking like only a 50% drop with $28M; franchise has now crossed the billion dollar mark.
It has been worried this weekend would be another dud at the box office following the past few weeks which includes bombs for The Fall Guy and Furiosa.
However, fans are said to be turning out for Bad Boys: Ride or Die.
The film opened Thursday with $5.9 million in previews, with a $20M-$21M Friday (includes Thursday), so the current opening weekend estimate is around $50M.
Fans are also liking what they are seeing as the Bad Boys: Ride or Die Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score is currently at 97%.
Cinemascore is A- (previous movies all had an A).
However, and similar to the previous three movies, the critics aren’t all that impressed as the Bad Boys: Ride or Die Rotten Tomatoes Score is currently at 63%.
Bad Boys for Life released in 2020 has a Rotten Tomatoes Score of 75%, and a 96% Audience Score.
Bad Boys II released in 2003 – 24/78, and the first Bad Boys movie released in 1995 – 44/78; so this is the sort of franchise that provides for the fans but isn’t for the film snobs.
Estimated coming in at #2 for the weekend is Garfield, with IF coming in at #3, The Watchers from the daughter of M. Night Shyamalan starring Dakota Fanning looks to be bombing at #4, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes also might overtake Furiosa at the #5 spot.

- The Garfield Movie: $10.0M
- IF: $8.0M
- The Watchers: $7.0M
- Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes: $5.4M
