New episodes for Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl start up next week, which also includes the premiere of Black Lightning.
Arrow is in its Season 6; The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl are in their Season 3, and it is reported some of the actors’ contracts are up.
While The CW has officially announced renewals for the shows, The CW president Mark Pedowitz is “optimistic” they will return.
“At the moment, it’s a little too soon,” Pedowitz told EW.com at the recent Television Critics Association’s winter press tour on Sunday. “We’re noted for announcing at winter TCA that we’re picking up shows, we just weren’t ready to do that yet. A couple more weeks [and] we’ll probably get around to it. I’m pretty confident we’ll see them all back.”
Regarding the actors contracts, Pedowitz couldn’t directly comment on them, but offered some of the actors are already returning: “I cannot discuss casting negotiations, but I do believe some members of the cast are already signed for longer.”
When asked if the recent sexual harassment allegations against showrunner and producer Andrew Kreisberg which ended up in is dismissal from the studio had anything to do with The CW not announcing the return of the shows, Pedowitz denied that.
“We haven’t renewed anything yet,” Pedowitz notes. “We’re not quite ready to do that. We’re a couple of weeks out. I’m pretty confident a lot of the [CW] slate is coming back. We’re just not ready to make that a formal announcement yet. It is only Jan. 7. It’s just a question of the board and I getting together and having a discussion about it. We just weren’t ready with the holidays and this came just days later. We’ll get there. I’m confident most of our schedule is coming back.”
Supergirl returns on Monday, Jan. 15, at 8 p.m. ET; The Flash returns Tuesday, Jan. 16th at 8pm ET followed by Black Lightning at 9 p.m. ET, and Arrow returns on Thursday, Jan. 18, at 9 p.m. ET. New episodes of Legends of Tomorrow kick off on Monday, February 12th.
