In only three weeks, James Wan’s Aquaman movie has managed to pass the complete worldwide box office of Justice League.

Aquaman has a current worldwide gross of $666.135 million, with Justice League finishing at $657,924,295 in 2017.

Aquaman still trails Justice League in the U.S.: $154.335 million to $229,024,295.

We see that the Jason Momoa film has a huge international gross ($511.8 million), which is thanks to China where the movie is doing really well with over $250 million as it opened December 7. China has also announced an extended showing for Aquaman as it is averaging around $2.5 million a day. Foreign films typically only get released for 30 days, but if they are performing strongly, they get another 30-day extension (same happened for Sony’s Venom which has earned $271 million in China so far).

It is also expected that Aquaman will be the #1 movie at the box office for the second weekend in a row, with around $50 million, which will shoot it over $185 million in the U.S.

The news of Aquaman passing Justice League shouldn’t come as that much of a surprise as the latter was not well received by critics and fans alike. The version released in theaters wasn’t the Zack Snyder version, with fans currently petitioning Warner Bros. to get the Justice League Snyder version released.
