Where is Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster In Thor: Ragnarok?

Why isn’t Natalie Portman’s Jane Fost in Thor: Ragnarok?

Two answers really: The movie takes place mostly in space, and also it’s learned the two have broken up.

EW.com reveal the pair have broken up as they caught up with Chris Hemsworth and Kevin Feige.

“[Thor is] off exploring the universe, still trying to police it and control the mayhem,” said Hemsworth. “But he’s certainly enjoying being a drifter, being a solo cowboy out there.”

It’s noted that Thor eventually meets up with Valkyrie, but it’s unclear if there will be any romantic interest.

“We wanted Thor to encounter somebody that was near his equal and that his relationship with Jane may have evolved in unexpected ways in between The Dark World and Ragnarok and we wanted to pit him against a character who was much more his equal and in many ways his superior,” said Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. “Valkyrie is trying to not embrace any sort of Asgardian heritage that she has. Thor thinks maybe that will create a bond between them and, on the contrary, she wants to forget it all entirely.”

Natalie Portman did recently tease a return to the MCU–which seemed all it was as she also previously said, “As far as I know, I’m done.”

It’s been said problems started between Portman and Marvel when Patty Jenkins left directing Thor: The Dark World, with Jenkins now directing Wonder Woman for DC, as Portman wasn’t happy about Jeinkins’ departure.

Thor: Raganarok has a November 3, 2017 release directed by Taika Waititi starring Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk/Banner, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster,  Anthony Hopkins as Odin and Sam Neill in an unknown role.
