While it’s been said the planned Agents Of SHIELD spinoff was cancelled due to not wanting popular characters moved off the show, the real story might be as simple as the ratings.
Last night’s two-hour Season 2 finale of Marvel’s Agents Of SHIELD saw a ratings low for the series.
The season two finale came in at a 1.3 rating, which is down 13 percent from last week’s 1.5 adults 18-49 rating, with 4 million viewers.
By comparison, The Flash continued to see strong numbers for the less-watched CW network with a 1.4.
iZombie even saw a 17 precent jump for the CW compared to the previous week (0.7 rating).
The season two finale for Agents Of SHIELD was also down by about 30% compared to last year’s season finale.
Worth a mention is that Agents Of SHIELD has a heavy DVR playback; however, it’s unknown how that affects advertising (and how that affects the show) as obviously people skip over the ads.
No worries, though, as ABC has renewed Agents Of SHIELD for Season 3 as well as Agent Carter for Season 2.
