On the heels of DC’s own planned Powerless TV series, it’s learned ABC has picked up Marvel’s Damage Control, which is also described as a half-hour live-action comedy.

Deadline reports ABC has put in for a put pilot committment (which generally means a guaranteed series) for Damage Control.

Damaged Control is being developed for TV by former Daily Show and Colbert Report executive producer Ben Karlinwith the series said to: “follow the overworked, underpaid, clean up crew of the Marvel Universe. Specializing in dealing with the aftermath of the unique fallout from superhero conflicts, they’re the ones who are in charge of returning lost ray guns to their rightful owners, help to reschedule a wedding venue after it has been vaporized in a superhero battle, or even track down a missing prize African parrot that’s been turned to stone or goo.”

Ben Karlin is writing the script for the project and wil be executive producer alongside 3 Arts’ David Miner and Marvel’s head of television Jeph Loeb.

No Marvel characters are yet confirmed for the Damage Control series, but in the comic, Ant-Man and Hercules have been a part of the group at one time or another.

Regarding DC’s Powerless, which NBC is picking up, that series is said to be similar in filming to The Office (single camera) and takes place at workplace comedy set at one of the worst insurance companies in America — with the twist being that it also takes place in the universe of DC Comics.
