Vincent D’Onofrio responds to the news that the Daredevil: Born Again series is getting retooled, which includes Kevin Feige having fired the head writers and remaining directors.
As I first said back in July, Daredevil: Born Again in its current state is a complete disaster, and once the strike is over, Feige will be fixing the series, which has since been confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.
Details on the plans for the series have also become known which was going to include the first episode killing off both Foggy and Karen which would have seen Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock quit being Daredevil for over a year.
Update: The Kingpin actor has quit social media.
What does Vincent D’Onofrio say?
Following today’s news, Vincent D’Onofrio took to Twitter to respond to a fan about a tweet he posted from back in April.
“Well now this aged poorly,” said the fan.
Regarding the April tweet, D’Onofrio posted, “So very excited about Daredevil: Born Again. Such an incredible cast and crew. Just finished a big scene yesterday and it was so intense and wonderful working with two of the other cast members. Wow. We all have a lot to look forward to. We meaning, you too.”
Bring forward the best series we can
Vincent D’Onofrio further responded.
“Unless you really know what’s going there’s a chance you could be wrong about this statement. We are going to bring forward the best series we can. One we can be proud of. Have some trust my freind, trust,” Vincent D’Onofrio said.
The fan replied, “You’re right, I don’t. I’m just going off reports/my personal feelings about this weird new era of television.”
D’Onofrio said, “Every cool project I’ve been involved with has evolved constantly during pre- production, production and post. It’s just reported on these days as if it’s big news. It’s not. It’s simple a bunch of creatives doing their best to get it right. It’s a constant in this business. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Frankly I’d be worried if we were settling for less.”
Back in April, a concerned fan also responded hoping that the show will be good.
“Oh, no worries there my friend,” replied the Kingpin actor at the time.
What happened to Daredevil: Born Again?
Tuesday saw the news that Daredevil: Born Again is undergoing a reboot at Marvel Studios.
Again, Kevin Feige has fired the head writers and remaining directors, as it is reported only a few episodes have been filmed prior to the strike.
A search is now underway for new writers and directors.
THR reports Feige and Marvel didn’t like what they saw with the series as it “did not resemble the Netflix version, known for its action and violence,” — so it sounds like Feige is going to reboot Daredevil: Born Again and make it closer to the Netflix show.
