Following the release of the Guardians of the Galaxy 3 trailer, it claimed that the flick will feature multiple deaths.
The new trailer seems to hint at least that is going to happen as various scenes feature reactions from the characters which come off as pretty horrific.
It’s also known this is James Gunn’s last movie with Marvel as he takes on Feige with the new DC Universe, and it’s the last Guardians of the Galaxy movie featuring this iteration of the team.
So knowing how James Gunn works, it’s safe to say Gunn is going to go out with a bang.

Will Adam Warlock join the Guardians of the Galaxy?
Fans are also already discussing how they think Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock will replace Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill as the leader of the team in new movies, which is probably safe to assume will happen.
Worth a mention is that while some fans are also complaining and questioning why bring in Adam Warlock into the MCU now as Thanos is dead, Adam Warlock was a part of the Guardians of the Galaxy team in 2008 from Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning that Gunn’s stuff is loosely based on (the new costumes are straight from the comics), so Adam Warlock can still fit into things (that one creature in the trailer and the High Evolutionary stuff kind of looks like the Cancerverse).
What do the Guardians of the Galaxy 3 rumors say?
Regarding the rumors, the info comes from YouTuber Grace Randolph in her Guardians of the Galaxy 3 trailer breakdown video where she starts off by stating she heard that not only might the film feature multiple deaths but that multiple deaths were filmed in an attempt to keep things secret. So, for example, if it leaks that Rocket Raccoon bites the dust or Gamora meets her maker, that might not actually make its way into the movie, etc.
“Marvel has been having a tough time of it lately [Phase 4 slate shown], and it seems like this is the kind of movie that would kick off the Summer movie season which is exactly what it’s going to do,” Randolph says.
She continues, “For its third entry, the last for James Gunn, and the last for this lineup for this team, it’s going to kick off the Summer movie season as well, that’s right, multiple characters I hear are going to die. You can tell from this trailer, it’s pretty sad although I have some theories as to what might happen to Rocket, he might not necessarily die.”
Randolph adds, “But speaking of what’s going to happen, I heard that they filmed multiple deaths so that it wouldn’t leak who was killed so that only James Gunn and only a few select people would know in the editing room, and then as soon as it plays for anybody it would leak on the internet anyway but as least you know there would be as much secrecy as possible these days.”
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Gamora and Adam Warlock rumors
Randolph drops a couple of other spoilers in that she says Zoe Saldana’s Gamora in the movie is a Ravager, where Gamora is the Ravager Leader (recall how Endgame set things up where this is the Gamora from the past, before she met Peter).
Grace also thinks Adam Warlock might eventually join the Guardians of the Galaxy and says that she heard since Ayesha created Adam Warlock to kill the Guardians who was born out of that cocoon in Vol. 2, that Adam Warlock will be infantilized, meaning he “wants to do good by his mommy.”
A big question surrounding Adam Warlock is what is the gem in his forehead, as in the comics the High Evolutionary (played by Chukwudi Iwuji in the film) gives Adam Warlock the Soul Gem, but of course in the MCU, the present-day Infinity Stones were destroyed by Thanos, so unless something happens in the past when Captain America was supposed to return the Soul Stone to its original timeline, that might be some sort of different gem/stone used by Adam Warlock.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 gets released on May 5, 2023.
