James Gunn has been really active on social media as of late and says that he is making plans for his DCU with another tease of Kingdom Come.
Recently saw Gunn open a Hive social media account (similar to Twitter) where he used Kingdom Come as his Hive banner image, and now Gunn tweets using the same pic.
What is Kingdom Come about?
Kingdom Come is a DC Comics “Elseworlds” story set in a DC Universe spinning out of control featuring the old guard vs the new guard.
Per the official description, the story pits the likes of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and their Justice League peers against a new, uncompromising generation of heroes who have lost their moral compass and who have become as reckless and violent as the villains they fight.
In the final war against each other, the battle will determine nothing less than the future of the planet.
The previous regime of heroes—the Justice League—returns under dire circumstances, which sets up a battle of the old guard against these uncompromising new protectors in a conflict that will define what heroism truly is.
Gunn isn’t one to normally tease exactly what he is doing, so whether or not he is actually adapting Kingdom Come remains to be seen.
What does James Gunn have planned for the DCU?
Recently did see the co-head of the DCU confirm that the movies will be connected to TV, animation, and even video games.
A rumor has offered that Gunn’s actual plans for the DCU involve Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller in a political commentary story to mirror the present times.
The rumor offers Amanda Waller will be on trial where she has to kill government witnesses to protector herself and even members of the Suicide Squad where the Justice League comes into play as well.
Gunn hasn’t shot down the rumor which is from Grace Randolph so maybe it’s legit and happening.
