Transformers: The Movie is returning to theaters for two days only for its 35th year anniversary as the animated flick pitting the Autobots vs the Decepticons was released back in 1986.
I have fond memories of the movie, as growing up, I was (and so was every kid) a big fan of Transformers, and wow was it a shock when they killed off – spoiler – Optimus Prime and replaced him with Rodimus Prime. I can recall absolutely hating Rodimus, where it seems I wasn’t the only one as they brought back Optimus Prime after the movie in the return of the animated series. I’m pretty sure the guy that either directed or came up with the story for the animated movie wasn’t even a Transformers fan, so there you go… (sound familiar He-Man, fans?).
I also just went over on Twitter how I bought the Hot Rod action figure at Toys R Us, as an 80s Twitter account tweeted about the figure. I usually saved my lunch money to buy myself toys, baseball cards and comic books, so I had saved enough and took all the change to Toys R Us where I wanted to buy Hot Rod, but I spilled the change all over the place (lol)! Luckily for me, one of my best friend’s at the time who I went with, Dan S., his aunt gave me the money I had lost and I was able to buy Hot Rod.
Of course, with mention of Transformers: The Movie, mention must also be made of the epic song by Stan Bush, The Touch! Still love it to this day!
