M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass movie, the sequel to Split and Unbreakable, takes the top spot at the box office for this past weekend, which includes the Monday Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
Glass delivered a respectable $40.58 million three-day opening, with a $47 million four-day holiday weekend opening. While the number is under initial estimates, the numbers are still solid as it is more than double its reported $20 million budget. The $40 million is also in line with what Split did back in 2017 for the same weekend. The numbers also give Glass the fourth largest three-day January opening and the third largest for the four-day MLK holiday weekend.
Glass has another $48.5 million from the foreign box office giving it a current worldwide gross of $95.5 million; Split finished with over $278 million.
Making up the rest of the weekend includes The Upside at #2 ($15,010,000), Aquaman at #3 ($10,170,000), Dragon Ball Super: Broly at #4 ($9,794,742), and Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse at #5 ($7,575,000).
Glass stars Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, James McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy.
