Walking Dead Suffers Another Ratings Low

Again coming as no surprise, following its second episode, The Walking Dead suffers from another ratings low.

The good news for AMC, at least, is that viewership didn’t decline, but the ratings for the advertiser coveted 18-49 age group demographic did fall.

Following the second episode’s series low of 2.0, this past Sunday’s rating fell to a 1.94, with overall viewership improving a bit to 5 million, from the second episode’s 4.947 million.

Ratings and viewership may actually increase – at least for the next two episodes – as AMC has let it be known that Andrew Lincoln only has two episodes remaining.

It’s still unclear what fate will become of Rick Grimes, as Sunday’s episode saw it learned Lincoln’s Rick Grimes wants to have a baby with Danai Gurira‘s Michonne.

It is possible that Rick Grimes could actually live on, but not be a part of The Walking Dead TV series, as AMC is developing other spinoffs and movie projects. Obviously featuring Andrew Lincoln in a The Walking Dead movie would probably be a big draw.

Regarding the future of The Walking Dead TV series, though ratings and viewership are nowhere near where they used to be, the numbers still top cable ratings on a weekly basis.

With Andrew Lincoln and Rick departing, it has been said that Norman Reedus and Daryl Dixon will be taking up the reins.

Likewise, this is Lauren Cohan’s last season as well, so what happens to Maggie remains to be seen. Maybe her character is another potential for a spinoff series or movie?
