Joaquin Phoenix Joker Starts Filming

The Joaquin Phoenix Joker movie has started filming as director Todd Phillips took to social media to tease the start of production.

While unfortunately the image isn’t of anything from the movie, but only a pic of the director himself, Philips added on Instagram, “Here we go.”

While we wait for the first set images to surface, a couple of days ago saw Joaquin Phoenix spotted on the streets of NYC apparently sporting his new look for the role, which has seen the actor drop a lot of weight.

In addition, recent news includes that Alec Baldwin dropped out of playing Thomas Wayne following descriptions of the character comparing Batman’s dad to a cheesy 1980s tanned Donald Trump.

“I’m no longer doing that movie. I’m sure there are 25 guys who can play that part,” Alec Baldwin said in a statement and added on social media: “Let me state, for the record, that I have NOT been hired to play a role in Todd Phillips’ JOKER as some Donald Trump manque. That is not happening. Not. Happening.”

Joker hits October 4, 2019 directed by Hangover‘s Todd Philips with a screenplay he co-wrote with writer Scott Silver (The Fighter).

The movie is described as:

Under the direction of Todd Phillips, the film centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of a man disregarded by society is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.
