Sin City Rights Return To Frank Miller

Sin City Rights Return To Frank Miller

It’s learned the rights to Sin City have return to its creator, legendary comic book artist and scribe, Frank Miller.

The rights include the film and TV adaptations of Sin City, which is based on the 1991 comic book he created and first hit the big screen in 2005.

Frank Miller regained the rights following objecting to Sin City being a part of the sale between Weinstein Co.’s and Lantern, which came about as a result of Weinstein Co.’s bankruptcy as a result of the Harvey Weinstein scandal.

In a settlement, Lantern agreed that the TV rights and the rights to the first Sin City film would not be a part of the sale; however, the settlement does not apply to the second 2014 Sin City: A Dame To Kill For movie.

Regarding a possible Sin City TV series, it was announced to be in development back in 2017 with The Walking Dead‘s Glen Mazzara onboard as a writer, but that was with Weinstein attached, so further announcements will have to be forthcoming.

The first Sin City was a success as it brought in over $158 million and starred Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis, Benicio Del Toro, Powers Boothe, Rosario Dawson, Michael Madsen and Rutger Hauer, but the second tanked with only $39 million worldwide.
