Roseanne Barr Disgusted With James Gunn Support

James Gunn was recently fired by Disney following tweets from ten years ago that resurfaced joking about pedophilia and rape, which means he is no longer a part of Marvel Studios and the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.

Roseanne Barr was fired from Disney after a racist tweet, which led to her series getting cancelled.

Following James Gunn getting fired, an outpouring of support overwhelmed social media including a petition to bring back the director on Guardians of the Galaxy 3, which has over 250,000 signatures.

Currently, ABC is developing a Roseanne spinoff not featuring the actress.

Roseanne Barr isn’t happy with the situation and took to Twitter to offer her disgust at support for James Gunn.

“I’m disgusted to read all of the support for James Gunn’s pedophile jokes-as the same people supported blacklisting me for a joke they didn’t even understand,” Roseanne Bar tweeted.

Ironically enough, James Gunn previously blasted Roseanne Barr’s tweets.

“He was one of the people that said ABC was right to fire me over my racist tweet,” Roseanne commented on a podcast with her good friend, Rabbi Schmuley. “He was one of them, but then it came back around, because what goes around comes around.”

Roseanne Barr may have a point in that if James Gunn was pro-Trump or more on the right side of things, would he be getting the same support?

The difference, however, may be that James Gunn posted the tweets years ago, while Roseanne Barr recently posted the tweet. Obviously people make mistakes and can change, but how long can one’s skeletons be brought up and used against them? Maybe forever?

James Gunn has apologized for his remarks:

“My words of nearly a decade ago were, at the time, totally failed and unfortunate efforts to be provocative. I have regretted them for many years since — not just because they were stupid, not at all funny, wildly insensitive, and certainly not provocative like I had hoped, but also because they don’t reflect the person I am today or have been for some time.”

“Regardless of how much time has passed, I understand and accept the business decisions taken today. Even these many years later, I take full responsibility for the way I conducted myself then. All I can do now, beyond offering my sincere and heartfelt regret, is to be the best human being I can be: accepting, understanding, committed to equality, and far more thoughtful about my public statements and my obligations to our public discourse. To everyone inside my industry and beyond, I again offer my deepest apologies. Love to all.”
