As of last night’s Thursday night previews, Marvel’s Black Panther movie is a smash hit!
Black Panther made a whopping $25.2 million last night, which beats out Captain America: Civil War ($25 million) and gives Marvel its second best Thursday opening ever behind The Avengers: Age Of Ultron ($27.6 million). Worth a note is that Black Panther also crushed the February Thursday preview for Deadpool ($12.7 million).
As of now, Black Panther is on track for a huge $175 million opening weekend, and when you add the holiday on Monday, Black Panther is now estimated to have north of $200 million.
I saw the movie last night and did like it. I also recommend going to see Black Panther, but I will say it did have some issues, which I’ll delve into later when I post my thoughts and own review.
Speaking of reviews, Black Panther has a current Rotten Tomatoes score of 97% with 250 Fresh to only 7 Rotten.
