The Flash’s Andrew Kreisberg Suspended Over Sexual Harassment

The Flash's Andrew Kreisberg Suspended Over Sexual Harassment

It a bit of irony as the previous episode of The Flash was all about “feminism,” now it’s learned that executive producer Andrew Kreisberg has been suspended due to claims of sexual harassment.

Deadline reports Andrew Kreisberg, co-creator and executive producer of The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow and Arrow, has been suspended by Warner Bros. over allegations of sexual harassment, and that WBTV also said they are launching an investigation into the accusations.

“We have recently been made aware of allegations of misconduct against Andrew Kreisberg,” Warner Bros. TV Group said in a statement. “We have suspended Mr. Kreisberg and are conducting an internal investigation. We take all allegations of misconduct extremely seriously, and are committed to creating a safe working environment for our employees and everyone involved in our productions.”

Producers Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter added in a statement:“We were recently made aware of some deeply troubling allegations regarding one of our showrunners. We have been encouraging and fully cooperating with the investigation into this by Warner Bros. There is nothing more important to us than the safety and well-being of our cast, crew, writers, producers and any staff. We do not tolerate harassment and are committed to doing everything we can to make an environment that’s safe to work in and safe to speak up about if it isn’t.”

According to the report, several people working on The Flash have complained about Andrew Kreisberg’s behavior, with on at least one occasion Kreisberg said to have interacted with a young female writer on The Flash  in a manner that was described as “inappropriate” and creating “a hostile work environment.”

It’s said the woman, who is a writer on the show, recently met with Andrew Kreisberg and told him that she wanted to be let out of her contract early and leave the The Flash. Reportedly, Kreisberg asked her to wait and talk to other people who encouraged her to consider staying until the end of the season, but that she decided that was not what she wanted because she felt uneasy and left within a few days.

The article notes the writer did not cite sexual harassment for abruptly leaving the show, but according to Deadline’s sources, with the “toxic” environment on The Flash series that she felt from Kreisberg, that it made her want to leave immediately.

It’s further noted there are specific allegations about Andrew Kreisberg from at least one other woman as well, who directed episodes of Arrow and The Flash, and that she had also complained of similar inappropriate behavior.
