Suicide Squad 2 is a go, and it will be written and directed by Gavin O’Connor who recently directed Ben Affleck in The Accountant.
Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto are confirmed to be back for Suicide Squad 2 as Deadshot, Harley Quinn and Joker, respectively, along with the rest of the SKAWD.
It’s reported Gavin O’Connor pitched his vision of the movie to WB, and he will also write Suicide Squad 2 with his scripting partner Anthony Tambakis.
It’s further said Suicide Squad 2 will start filming next year, and that Jaume Collet-Serra and Mel Gibson were contenders to direct before going on with other projects.
Gavin O’Connor is also known for Warrior (starred Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton), Jane Got A Gun, the pilot episode of The Americans, and is also writing and directing the new Green Hornet film and the sequel to The Accountant with Ben Affleck returning.
Sounds like Suicide Squad 2 is in great hands with Gavin O’Connor. I loved all the aforementioned.
The first Suicide Squad movie was directed by David Ayer who is moving on to direct the DCEU female villains flick, Gotham City Sirens. Suicide Squad netted over $745 million at the box office.
