It’s being speculated that Spider-Man: Homecoming may have upwards of a $135 million opening–which would be more than double that of the first Amazing Spider-Man movie.
If Spider-Man: Homecoming does open around $135 million, that would give it the MCU’s sixth best opening, trailing The Avengers, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Iron Man 3, Captain America: Civil War and the recent $146 million opening of Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
I would even suggest Spider-Man: Homecoming could open north of the $135 million number.
It will also be interesting to see if Spider-Man: Homecoming has legs (and hopefully the recent trailer didn’t spoil the whole movie) as it faces stiff competition when Matt Reeve’s War for the Planet of the Apes opens a week following, Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk opens July 21st and the Emoji movie opens July 28th.

Synopsis:
