Guardians of the Galaxy 2 To Be Set On Modern Day Earth?

It’s learned that apparently Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will be set on modern day Earth as Ford has announced their Ford EcoSport will be appearing in the movie.

I suppose it’s possible they could somehow show the Ford EcoSport out in space in some comical goofy scene , but that would be sort of pushing the corporate sponsor boundry, lol.

It is known that parts of the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 movie will be set on Earth, but it was thought to be a flashback scene, possibly involving Kurt Russell’s Ego with Peter Quill’s mother, as set images revealed a small town and movie theater (with Nathan Fillion Wonder Man, Dan Abnett, Andy Lanning and Jim Starlin Easter Eggs). Just maybe that scene is actually taking place in modern times?

With news of the Ford EcoSport being a part of the movie, you also can’t but help wonder if it’s somehow tied to Avengers: Infinity War as it’s speculated the Guardians of the Galaxy meet up at some point with The Avengers on Earth to battle Thanos.

Another guess is that if a scene in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 does take place on modern day Earth involving the Guardians, the Avengers get wind of it and of the Guardians existence?

I guess we’ll have to wait a couple more weeks to see how this plays out and leave our trust in James Gunn’s hands.

Here is the official announcement from Ford stating the Ford EcoSport will be in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, will be featured in a spot with Groot, and a digital Marvel Comics comic book:
