It’s being said that Adi Shankar is on Sony’s shortlist to direct the upcoming Venom movie.
The rumor comes from the splashreport website, that honesly I’m not familiar with, so take this with a grain of salt.
However, if there is at least some inkling of truth to the rumor, Adi Shankar would be a pretty great choice to direct Venom, especially since it’s been described as an action, horror and sci-fi movie (which may mean it’s rated-R).
Adi Shankar actually put out the Eddie Brock (Venom) “Truth In Journalism” short (watch below) from a while back and is known for the controversial Power Rangers fan-film, for producing Dredd and The Grey, and for being behind the upcoming Netflix Castlevania Rated-R animated series.
I’ve been following Shankar for a while now and the guys is at hard core as it gets. Like most of us, he’s super serious about his work and is a big fan of comics and the genre. If he does happen to get the Venom gig, he would definitely do it justice.
Sony has the Venom movie pegged for an October 5, 2018 release with filming supposedly to begin this Fall, and it’s not connected to the MCU or Spider-Man: Homecoming.
