I’ve been stating this for quite a while, that Marvel TV isn’t a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, aka the MCU, which is a reason why there won’t be a crossover.
Now Anthony Mackie, who plays Falcon for Marvel Studios, confirms this as well.
“Different universes, different worlds, different companies, different designs. [Marvel Studios president] Kevin Feige is very specific about how he wants the Marvel Universe to be seen in the film world. It wouldn’t work. It wouldn’t work at all,” Mackie said at the recent Wizard World Cleveland convention (via Screen Geek).
A while back also saw Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn state there was a disconnect between Marvel Studios and Marvel TV, and Daredevil actor Charlie Cox even said Marvel Studios could use a different actor to play the Man Without Fear in The Avengers: Infinity War if they wanted to.
Now as a Marvel fan you might want to place the blame on Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige for no crossover, but if anyone is to blame it seems to be Marvel CEO billionaire Ike Perlmutter and his Marvel Comics Creative Committee, which is made up of Joe Quesada, Alan Fine, Dan Buckley and Brian Bendis. I’ll also add head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb to the mix.
It’s been reported Perlmutter and his cronies regularly interfered with the Marvel movies, so much so, that Kevin Feige had to go above Perlmutter to Disney CEO Bob Iger to essentially fire Perlmutter and the Marvel Comics Creative Committee from being further involved with the Marvel movies. Perlmutter and the MCCC are also responsible for the lackluster Marvel TV shows and the terrible performance of Marvel Comics, which includes Axel Alonso and Tom Brevoort’s involvement.
While it may seems as if the MCU and Marvel TV are “connected,” essentially it’s just a ruse on the part of Marvel TV as they desperately want to get any portion of the MCU audience they can as it’s ten times larger (or more).
So if you are keeping track, Marvel Studios under Kevin Feige is completely separate from the Marvel Comics/Gaming/Licensing/TV division which is under Perlmutter and the MCCC.
Sorry, but Marvel TV isn’t a part of the MCU (which is probably a good thing), and for the record, the MCU has never referenced anything from Marvel TV.
