We're about four weeks away from Star Wars: Rogue One which sees the Rebels' mission to steal the Death Star plans come to fruition on the big screen.

THR reports Star Wars: Rogue One is being estimated to have as high as a $150 million opening weekend with it more than likely being said to bring in $130 million (another source even says $120m). As noted, the number would mark the second biggest December box office of all time following last year's Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which grossed a whopping $247.9 million for its first weekend.

It's also said social buzz for Rogue One is larger than Suicide Squad and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them — another good sign.

Star Wars: Rogue One has nowhere near the publicity of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and probably won't even get close to the box office draw, but Rogue One does have something that Episode VII didn't: Darth Vader.

"Star Wars: Rogue One" has a December 16, 2016 release directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, with Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel are producing, with John Knoll and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers.

Synopsis:

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.
