We get an update on Thanos in the Avengers: Infinity War movies out of the recent New York Comic-Con.
While the news has been pretty much expected, it’s still nice to hear.
Starlin was asked why he thinks his characters are translating so well to film. Starlin offered, regarding Drax and Gamora, that they are “archetypes” with Drax a “big lumbering guy” and Gamora a “tough gal.”
Regarding Thanos, Starlin said, “Thanos… It really remains to be seen that we are going to translate him well into movies because he hasn’t really done much at this point. They’re travelling on the same road that I did with the comics where he is a presence for a long time before he actually starts kicking some tail. I’d be curious to see what they do with it.”
Marvel’s Ryan Penagos, the Vice President & Executive Editor of Marvel Digital Media, then chimed in with: “I will just say that he kicks plenty of tail, and there will be plenty of tail being kicked.”
“I would imagine,” agreed Starlin.
“Yeah. It’s going to be intense. I’m very excited to see that for sure,” added Penagos.
The NYCC also saw Jim Starlin announce a new Thanos comic and talk Jason Todd’s Robin death in Batman.
The Avengers: Infinity War hits May 4, 2018 directed by Joe and Anthony Russo starring Josh Brolin as the Mad Titan Thanos.
