Mike Colter Says No Luke Cage For Marvel Movies

It’s once again being said Marvel TV won’t be crossing over to the MCU.

With Luke Cage premiering on Netfix, the show’s star, Mike Colter, talks how he doesn’t think they will be appearing in the Marvel movies, which isn’t a suprise because Marvel TV and Marvel Studios are completely separate.

Mike Colter told Power 105.1 on YouTube:

What we do is really unique… We’re adult kind of oriented. We’re not PG-13. We’re not really for the mass audiences, crowd pleasing, family oriented. We have sex scenes. We have, you know, adult situations, and while I think it’d be nice to be in the films, I don’t know if we want to dilute what we’re doing that makes us very unique. That being said, you know Marvel, if they can make it work I’m sure it’d be nice, but it’s really scheduling. They schedule movies years in advance, we’re shooting TV series year round. It’s very tough to just kind of make things just work the way you want to because it’s just so much going on.”

Marvel (in an attempt not to hurt the brand) spins the story of “scheduling” as the reason they can’t sync up. In truth, they have nothing to do with each other, and Kevin Feige even booted the Marvel TV/Comics people (Quesada, Bendis) from being involved with the Marvel films, which says a lot. The Marvel TV/Comics people are a part of the Marvel Comics Creative Committee and are lackeys to Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter. Feige recently went above Perlmutter to Disney CEO Bob Iger and had Perlmutter and Marvel Comics/TV removed from Marvel Studios. So the reason has nothing to do with scheduling, but everything to do with the people who run Marvel TV/Comics. Marvel Studios has also recently launched separate branding on social networks to further set themselves a part from the comics and TV mediums. A lot of fans also want Marvel under the complete control of Kevin Feige (as it should be).
