No surprise, but it’s now learned Robert Downey Jr. has signed on to Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Downey Jr. just appeared on Jimmy Kimmel and said the contract has yet to be signed, but now according to THR, it’s a done deal.
New Spider-Man Tom Holland first appears in Captain America: Civil War with it said Civil War “establishes a key relationship between Tony Stark/Iron Man and Parker and Homecoming will continue that thread.”
Robert Downey Jr. marks the first Marvel Studios actor and character to crossover to the Sony Spider-Man move. Kevin Feige recently suggested the Marvel and Sony characters will be able to be shared back and forth.
Robert Downey Jr. joins the recent cast announcements of Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Zendya and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May. Michael Keaton is rumored to be playing a villain.
Spider-Man: Homecoming has a July 7, 2017 release directed by Jon Watts.
