Will Smith and Margot Robbie will also be returning for Suicide Squad 2 as their respective characters, Deadshot and Harley Quinn, and in addition, it has been said that Jared Leto will be back to reprise as the Joker.

Suicide Squad 2 currently has no release date; Gavin O’Connor (The Accountant) is writing and directing and Michael De Luca is on board as producer. It’s also been said that Ben Affleck may be featured as Batman.

While the first Suicide Squad wasn’t well received by critics (26% on Rotten Tomatoes), the movie did make a bundle of money at near $747 million worldwide; 60% of the audience stated they liked the film at RT as well.

David Ayer directed the first Suicide Squad and now goes on to direct the Gotham City Sirens movie starring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and some of the DC female villains including Catwoman and Poison Ivy.
