Marvel EIC Axel Alonso Comments On Amazing Spider-Man #700 Leak (Spoilers)

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:4732:]]With the recent leaks surrounding the Amazing Spider-Man #700 as well as Superior Spider-Man #1, Marvel EIC Axel Alonso issued a statement through CBR.

“It’s always disappointing when someone decides to spoil a big story by posting it on the torrents. Piracy affects fans, creators and retailers who look forward to a big comic book to put some cash in their registers — which ‘Amazing Spider-Man #700′ definitely will do. The fact that physical copies of the issue exist, but are accessible to a select few, is, of course, alarming.”

Yes, Marvel is investigating this matter.

Alonso seems to insinuate that the leaked spoilers will effect sales for Amazing Spider-Man negatively, but we all know that’s not the case.

Someone leaked the entire issue of Amazing Spider-Man #698 online two days before it was to go on sale, with the issue selling out and going to second print, which Marvel sent out a press release about.

This time, however, it’s not two days but almost a month.

Obviously this leak is coming from Marvel and the handful of people that get early copies, so the obvious answer would have been to not give out early copies, but Marvel still did.

Previously, Dan Slott said retailers haven’t ordered enough of these issues, as well as making it out to sound as if there wasn’t too much buzz.

Well, with all the leaks, the bees seem to be buzzing as the spoilers are being discussed everywhere, from obvious comic book forums and sites to larger entertainment news websites and even gaming websites.

Job well done to whoever came up with this idea.

I’ve seen the leaked pages, and to be quite honest, they don’t reveal much. If you read Amazing Spider-Man #698, you already know what happened.

And there is a reported description for Amazing Spider-Man #700 online, which I attempted to read, “attempted” because it’s a garbled mess.

Honestly, I thought they were fakes, because both of the leaks didn’t reveal a darn thing.

If it’s not fake, how about sending over the new Nova and Guardians of the Galaxy for us to “review?”
