James Gunn’s Goofy Suicide Squad Revealed In Set Pics

If you were hoping James Gunn’s Suicide Squad was going to be different than his Guardians of the Galaxy movies, sorry to disappoint, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

James Gunn, who has built his entire career on doing non-original goofy and parodic takes on various things now apparently follows the same rinse repeat method with The Suicide Squad.

The first set pics have hit the net revealing the actors in costume including Nathan Fillion and Jai Courtney.

“So far I don’t know what to think about Suicide Squad 2’s costumes…” one Twitter user posted.

The Suicide Squad more comedic than serious?

It appears that James Gunn is going with a similar approach to what he did with Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, which was a drastically different route than the source material, as the comics were much better, darker and grittier. The Suicide Squad comics are rather gritty themselves, I believe, but these costumes come off more comedic than serious.

Of course, it could be entirely possible that some of these goofy characters are the ones that killed off, so bear that in mind.

More pics are up at Just Jared.

The Suicide Squad gets released on August 6, 2021 starring Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag), with Steve Agee, said to be playing King Shark, David Dastmalchian as Polka-Dot Man, Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher, with John Cena thought to be playing the role originally meant for Dave Bautista with Peacemaker, German comedian-actor Flula Borg is in the flick, Nathan Fillion, Taika Waititi, Peter Capaldi, Pete Davidson, Sean Gunn, Michael Rooker, Jennifer Holland, Joaquin Cosio, Mayling NG, Juan Diego Bottom, Storm Reid, Alice Braga, Tinashe Kajese, and Julio Ruiz.
