Guardians of the Galaxy Movies Getting Retconned?

Guardians of the Galaxy Movies Getting Retconned?

Warning: Possible spoilers follow for The Avengers 4 and maybe even Guardians of the Galaxy 3.

A potential huge leak has recently hit the net in regards to The Avengers 4, which offers an interesting change for the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

According to the rumor, the Avengers go back in time to get the Power Stone before Star-Lord retrieves the Orb in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, which changes both of the Guardians movies entirely.

No further details are said about what the potential changes may be, but we can obviously speculate it would have more to do with the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, which ended with Star-Lord battling Ronan for possession of the Infinity Stone.

If the rumor is true, that would mean Star-Lord never recovered the Orb; that Ronan never acquired the Infinity Stone; that Ronan never destroyed the Nova Corps fleet; that Ronan never died, and my favorite–that Star-Lord never had a “dance off, bro” moment at the end with Ronan.

Interestingly enough, director James Gunn has gone on record stating he wasn’t happy with Ronan’s plot in the movie and cited interference from Ike Perlmutter and the Marvel Comics Creative Committee.

So could Marvel Studios be “fixing” (or retconning) their movies through The Avengers 4? Furthermore, could Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige be fixing (and removing) the input of Perlmutter and the Marvel Comics Creative Committee from the MCU who are also said to have been behind a host of problems ranging from The Avengers: Age of Ultron to Joss Whedon leaving Marvel?

Regarding Guardians of the Galaxy 3, James Gunn has gone on record stating it will be the last iteration of the team. Is that because of Avengers 4? We don’t know when Guardians of the Galaxy 3 takes place, but if the timeline is changed, and the events in Guardians of the Galaxy didn’t happen, could that mean the team as we know it didn’t form? Possibly the timeline gets changed in Avengers 4 causing a new team of Guardians?

What other changes could happen if Star-Lord never stole the Orb? How would it impact Guardians of the Galaxy 2? Could it be a way for the return of Yondu? Hit us up in the comments below!
