Ben Affleck Figuring Out How To Leave Batman Role

Ben Affleck’s days are numbered as the DC Dark Knight.

It’s been rumored for a while that Ben Affleck wants out of the Batman role, which most recently saw the actor scoff and doing five Batman movies (Affleck is currently on his third appearance as Batman with this week’s Justice League).

Now while talking with USA Today about the Justice League movie, Ben Affleck confirms he is figuring out a way to get out of playing Batman for the long haul.

The new Batman movie being developed by Matt Reeves (War for the Planet of the Apes) is “something I’m contemplating,” says Affleck, who originally was tapped to direct. “You don’t do it forever, so I want to find a graceful and cool way to segue out of it.”

Regarding a potential “cool” way to exit the Batman role, a lot of fans are speculating it may having something to due with the upcoming Flashpoint film, which creates an alternate Batman and an alternate universe as a result of The Flash going back in time to save his mother’s life.

It’s actually possible DC could be using the Flashpoint movie to give their DCEU a soft reboot as well, as WB could always go with a younger actor to play Batman as it was reported prior to Ben Affleck that another avenue WB was exploring was going with a Batman in his second year of being a hero.

Still another possibility is that WB will simply use a new actor for Batman and continue the current role, similar to James Bond.

Justice League has a November 17, 2017 release directed by Zack Snyder, with the story by Chris Terrio and Zack Snyder, the screenplay by Chris Terrio and Joss Whedon, and stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon and Willem Dafoe an Atlantean, Nuidis Vulko.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
