If you recall, last week I said that a trusted source close to Warner Bros. told me there would be no shared movie and TV universe for Arrow and the Warner Bros. movie universes.
We were told “it’s going to be separate universes.”
Now Arrow Executive Producer Greg Berlanti says more of the same.
To bring you up to speed, speculation about a shared movie and TV universe started with mention by Stephen Amell that Christopher Nolan had approved the use of The Flash in addition to all the Batman connections this season on Arrow. Amell also has been hinting at some sort of Justice League connection on the series – or at least a group of superheroes banding together on the show.
However, Greg Berlanti tells Fandago there haven’t been any conversations about a connected universe, just approval of which characters they can use (such as the aforementioned Flash).
“We haven’t had any of those conversations other than to say, what characters are we allowed to use this year and advocate or request certain ones that are of interest to us,” Berlanti said. “And every now and then, they’ll say, ‘You can’t have that guy.’ They don’t say why, and we figure out why later on.”
With this news, we can also rule out any appearance by Grant Gustin as The Flash in Batman Vs. Superman or his own WB movie. If the rumors of a movie for The Flash are true, it looks to be a different actor just for the WB movie universe.
