Two more names look to be added to the list of possibilites for Lex Luthor in Batman Vs. Superman with Tom Hanks and Terry O’Quinn.
Terry O’Quinn is said to be on Zack Snyder’s short list according to sources close to the Batman Vs. Superman Michigan production offices reports SupermanSuperSite.com. O’Quinn is known for playing John Locke on the Lost TV series and most recently appeared on Falling Skies, Hawaii 5-0 and Gang Related.
If you recall, last Cosmic Book News heard about Lex Luthor was Bryan Cranston had bowed out of Batman Vs. Superman (perhaps similar to Charlie Hunnam bowing out of 50 Shades of Grey). Also, due to Mark Strong’s new AMC TV show, Strong may not be able to take the role, so we were told it was back to the drawing board for Warner Bros.
We were also told that Cranston simply had a change of heart and wanted to go in a different direction than villain roles, such as in Breaking Bad and his latest movie Cold Comes The Night. USA Today just reported Cranston is going for “new territory after concluding his acclaimed role on AMC’s Breaking Bad” with the announcement of the actor hosting the new H2 series, Big History.

I spoke to our trusted source close to Warner Bros. recently where the name Tom Hanks came up for Lex Luthor. If you recall, almost a month ago Tom Hanks publically let it be known he wanted to play the villain to Batman. I’m told Warner Bros. is considering Tom Hanks for Lex Luthor. I was told Hanks is a huge fan, and the role of Lex Luthor would go against his typecasting which Hanks is excited about and could come off really well. Whether Hanks has read for the role and auditioned, I’m not sure.
Other information we talked about was the fact that The Flash is appearing in CW’s Arrow and also rumored for Batman Vs. Superman. I brought up the question whether or not WB was building a shared TV and movie universe similar to Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and how having The Flash in Arrow and in the movie would work. I was told it’s going to be separate universes.
I touched upon this in an earlier article, but the source told me he hadn’t heard about Wonder Woman appearing in Batman Vs. Superman, which leaves me to specuate the rumors surrounding the casting auditions are not for that specific role. It could be “Diana” appearing and not “Wonder Woman.” The source also said The Flash has been expected to cameo in Batman Vs. Superman for quite a while by those in the know.
“Batman Vs. Superman” has a July 17, 2015 release starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.
