Comic-Con saw the announcement that Thor: Love and Thunder is underway, with James Gunn now confirming the flick takes place before his Guardians of the Galaxy 3.
James Gunn posted an enthusiastic “Hell yes!!! Thanks everybody” on Instagram to the news of Avengers: Endgame passing Avatar to become the #1 movie in the world, with a fan questioning if Thor 4 takes place before or after Guardians of the Galaxy 3.
“Before,” Gunn confirmed.
Thor joining the Guardians of the Galaxy?
The end of Avengers: Endgame seemingly saw Thor join up with the Guardians, but it appears that is not the case. Or it is possible that Thor does join the Guardians for a short time and then they head their separate ways, which leads to Thor: Love and Thunder and Guardians of the Galaxy 3?
Just prior to Comic-Con did see the news that Thor 4 is in the works, with it also said Chris Hemsworth is expected to appear in Guardians of the Galaxy 3, so perhaps Hemsworth returns to join the Guardians in GOTG 3.
Thor: Love and Thunder has a November 5, 2021 release date; Guardians of the Galaxy 3 presently has no release date, but it appears that it will be a part of Marvel’s Phase 5 slate of movies. James Gunn is directing The Suicide Squad for DC and then will film Guardians when he finishes.
