Agents of SHIELD: Natalia Cordova-Buckley Becomes Series Regular

Ahead of tomorrow’s Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD panel at the NYCC, it’s revealed fan-favorite actress Natalia Cordova-Buckley gets bumped up to a series regular for Season 5.

“Natalia is a powerhouse in her work and in her daily life, and she has imbued one of our favorite characters with her natural strength and humor,” S.H.I.E.L.D.executive producers Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen, and Jeffrey Bell told Deadline in a statement regarding Cordova-Buckley and her role as Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez. “Natalia was instantly a part of the S.H.I.E.L.D. family the first day she walked onto set, and we’re happy she’s now an official member of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team.”

Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez is an Inhuman with the ability of super speed and was first introduced last year during Season 3’s “Bouncing Back” episode and was also featured on the Agents of SHIELD 6-episode Slingshot short (watch the first part below).
