Zack Snyder talks about his two dc loners, Aquaman and Wonder Woman, who will be a part of the Snyder Cut of Justice League when it gets released next year on HBO Max.
Zack spoke with YouTuber Grace Randolph who mentions that in the theatrical release of Justice League, Aquaman and Wonder Woman were underdeveloped characters in the movie.
“I haven’t seen the theatrical cut of Justice League so I’m not 100% sure what happens to them in the movie,” Zack said. “We were excited about how those two kinds of loners would have to be incorporated into this team setting and like how they would react, what they would do, and meanwhile, Wonder Woman has other things going on as she looks forward to the future in what is her place and is time to think about what she left behind in Themyscira and things like that. There are a lot of balls in the air with them, with both of them. It’s incredible.”
Zack also again talked about continuity, as he previously confirmed a DC Multiverse.
“It’s also funny because Aquaman the movie, you know takes place after this movie, right, but Wonder Woman 84 takes place before this movie, so it’s an interesting timeline if you will, but again, I think to look at is as a really sharp continuity would be a mistake,” explained Snyder. “In a lot of ways, the theatrical version, probably, of Justice League, is tighter in continuity to what they’re doing now in the DCEU because, frankly, that was a movie they were in charge of the elements, right?”
Snyder Cut coming to HBO Max in 2021
There is actually a rumor that Wonder Woman 1984 changes continuity by bringing Wonder Woman and Diana to the present day, meaning she never disappears for as long as she does following WW1 in the Zack Snyder movies, which Zack seems to be hinting at, as he says his flicks go off in their own way.
“And because Warner Bros. did the kind and amazing gesture of, ‘Zack go finish your vision,’ it’s going to be divergent in some ways. It’s just by its nature… And I think that is a thing you want, it allows ‘more is more,’” explained Zack.
The Snyder Cut gets released on HBO Max in 2021.
