Captain Kirk, Chris Pine, is making the rounds as of late talking about Star Trek Into Darkness while promoting his upcoming film, Rise of the Guardians.

Pine previously mentioned shooting a scene with Star Trek villain Benedict Cumberbatch, which may give hint as to Cumberbatch’s identity.

The latest has Pine talking about his character and the direction Star Trek Into Darkness will take Captain Kirk.

“Kirk is fun because he is a brash, cocky, bull-headed kind of guy,” Pine offered. “I think the journey he goes on in this new film is a lot about – the first one was about getting the chair, the captain’s chair, and the second one is about earning it. And I think that’s a big part of his journey there.”

Star Trek Into Darkness has a May 17th, 2013 release date in 3D, is directed by J.J. Abrams and stars Chris Pine as Capt. James T. Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, Karl Urban as Leonard “Bones” McCoy, Zoe Saldana as Nyota Uhura, Simon Pegg as Scotty, Anton Yelchin as Pavel Chekov, John Cho as Hikaru Sulu and Benedict Cumberbatch as an unnamed villain.
