A week or so ago while doing press for John Wick 2, Keanu Reeves mentioned doing The Matrix 4 would be awesome.
Now while speaking with Yahoo Movies, Keanu Reeves offers what it would take to get him back as Neo.
âThe Wachowskis would have to be involved,â Reeves said about The Matrix 4. âThey would have to write it and direct it. And then weâd see what the story is, but yeah, I dunno, thatâd be weird, but why not? People die, stories donât, people in stories donât.â
Laurence Fishburne, who played Morpheus, has a role in John Wick 2, which reunited the two actors and is the reason for the renewed talk of a Matrix 4. While talking about Batman vs. Superman and Justice League, as Fishburne plays Perry White, Fishburne compared the pressure of creating those movies to doing Matrix 4.
âPeople always ask me, âWill there be another Matrix? Is there more?â If we were to ever do something like that, can you imagine the pressure weâd be under?â Fishburne said.
In an interview from last November, Carrie-Anne Moss, who played Trinity, offered filming The Matrix Trilogy was a highlight of her life.
âIn some ways the conversation that surrounded [The Matrix] is even more relevant now,â Moss told The Guardian. âWe really are all plugged into the matrix. I feel like the Wachowskis had a lot more clarity around it than I did at the time. In that first scene, where the babies are all plugged in as batteries, everyone is mentally asleep â they knew exactly what they were saying. Itâs amazing as an artist to be part of a conversation.â
There has been rumors surrounding The Matrix 4 for some time, with a title even rumored to be âMatrix Resurrection,â with it also said Warner Bros. was creating a new Matrix Trilogy to take on Disneyâs Star Wars. With Keanu Reeves implying he would return as Neo, it now seems as if any hopes of Matrix 4 are in the hands of the Wachowski brothers.Â
The Matrix debuted in 1999, with The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix: Revolutions released in 2003. The three films have netted over $1.6 billion.
