New Matrix Movie Rumored To Take On Star Wars

It's been over ten years since the last Matrix movie, and now with the advent of Jupiter Ascending hitting theaters this July by the Wachowski's comes a rumor that more Matrix movies are in development.

Latino Review has the following details:

We’ve been told that the Wachowski’s have already started the writing process with early treatments and outlines already turned into the studio. No word if they will want to direct but my money says “Claro que Si!”.

Warner Bros. is desperate for a surefire franchise and will be making a push to have the new Matrix films ready to up against any new Star Wars and Avatar films by 2017.

It's also noted that none of the Matrix animated films will affect the new movies (if true).

Interestingly enough, the recent Super Bowl featured a Matrix commercial with Laurence Fishburne.

It's unknown if the rumored new Matrix movie will be a prequel or feature Neo, played by Keanu Reeves.
