Young Adult Cloak and Dagger TV Series On The Way

ABC and Marvel are developing a Cloak and Dagger TV series aimed at young adults that will air on Disney’s Freeform TV channel.

The live-action Cloak and Dagger series is described by Variety as a superhero love story based on the titular comic book duo (also known as Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson):

The live-action interracial romance follows the duo, two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers while falling in love — Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart, but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.

No actors or writers are attached to the project as of yet.

Disney’s Freeform network primarily features programming aimed at teenagers and young adults between the ages of 14 and 34.

Update: Marvel.com released the following:

Announced today at Freeform’s upfront event, “Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger” follows Tandy Bowen and Tyronne Johnson, two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened by and awakened to newly acquired super powers while falling in love. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn that they are better together than apart–but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.

“We are thrilled to be able to explore another corner of the Marvel Universe with Cloak and Dagger,” said Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. “We want to thank Tandy and Tyrone’s fans everywhere who have been waiting for this exciting news.”
