Batman Vs. Superman Comic-Con Trailer

With rumors of George Miller directing a Man of Steel sequel, the question of a second Superman standalone movie is brought up to director Zack Snyder, who seems to insinuate it’s not their top priority as he makes mention Batman Vs. Superman is essentially Man of Steel 2.

Snyder, talking with Canoe.com about the Doritos contest, offered the following about Man of Steel 2 and Justice League:

I think in a way Batman v Superman is Man of Steel 2. Justice League is kind of the transcendent, knights-of-the-round-table of the story. It’d be interesting to think about what a standalone Superman movie might be.”

Regarding Justice League, Snyder also offers his thoughts about going from Dawn of the Dead back in 2004 to now doing DC movies:

“At that point I was really into (Frank Miller’s comic) The Dark Knight Returns. I don’t know that I thought about it in those terms, but if you told me that I might make a Justice League movie, I wouldn’t think that that was weird. But I don’t think I would realize what it meant to pop culture the way it has struck pop culture right now.”

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has a March 25, 2016 release starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg with Callan Mulvey, Holly Hunter as Senator Finch and Tao Okamoto as Mercy Graves. Justice League is to follow directed by Zack Snyder as well.

Synopsis:

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
