Update: Tom Brevoort has made it known that it was a printer error:
That was a printer’s error, actually–that ad spread was inserted into the wrong place in the books from a particular printer.
Comic fans weren’t too happy when DC Comics added advertisements which ended up slitting the pages in half.
Now Marvel has gone one step further and has actually inserted one page ads between splash pages.
The new ad format hit Marvel’s comics this week as users on Reddit and various social networks are complaining.
Here are examples as well as Twitter reactions:
Hey @Marvel – what’s with the ads stapled into the middle of a 2-page spread? Completely ruined several of today’s books for me!

.@marvel sure did ruin a bunch of books this week by placing house ads in the middle of double page spreads and also having printing errors.

@Marvel I feel you should be aware that someone goofed and put ads in the middle of double-page splashes this week on many books. Not cool.

Whoever was in charge of placing ads in @Marvel books this week done goofed. Who puts giant gatefold ads in the middle of a splash page?
