Update: Itâs reported Pom Klementieff is playing Mantis.
Do we have our Mantis for Guardians of the Galaxy 2?
THR reports Marvel and James Gunn have conducted a wide search for a mystery part, which called for an Asian actress, with relatively unknown French actress Pom Klementieff getting the gig in what is said to be a new key role for the film.
We can speculate it may be Mantis, who in the Marvel comics is half-Vietnamese and a part of the Guardians of the Galaxy in the comics.
Klementief did appear in Spike Leeâs recent remake of Japanese thriller Oldboy in a role that demanded physicality and martial arts. In the comics, Mantis is a grandmistress of the martial arts capable of defeating Captain America and has telepathic and precognitive abilities.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 has a May 5, 2017 release.
