Jeremy Irons Says Batman Vs. Superman Deserved A Kicking By Critics

The new Alfred for Batman Vs. Superman isn’t afraid to admit the movie had some faults.

In an interview with The Guardian, Irons agrees that Batman vs. Superman deserved a kicking from the critics, but does say it still made a lot of money.

“Deservedly so. I mean it took £800 million, so the kicking didn’t matter but it was sort of overstuffed,” Irons said. “It was very muddled. I think the next one will be simpler. The script is certainly a lot smaller, it’s more linear.”

Irons continues, possibly revealing the title of the Ben Affleck solo Batman movie, which Cosmic Book News was first told almost four years ago with “The Batman.”

“I’m tied into The Batman at the minute [the next installment, Justice League Part One, is due next year], which is nice because it’s a bit of income,” Irons said.

In Batman Vs. Superman, not only does Alfred play the “butler” role, but Alfred is also a highly trained soldier.

“If I was Mr and Mrs Wayne and I had a young son I thought could be kidnapped, killed or whatever because of his wealth, I’d make sure his guardian – his tutor, his mate – was somebody pretty capable,” Irons said.
