New details about the role Jeremy Irons plays as Alfred are learned in Batman Vs. Superman, which shies away from the classic butler we know from the comics and Christopher Nolan Dark Knight movies.

The leaked Batman Vs. Superman book reveals Alfred started off as a bodyguard for the Wayne's. Following Thomas and Martha Wayne's death, Bruce Wayne decided he didn't need any servants and only kept Alfred on, who then became Bruce's legal guardian and confidant.

The book says Alfred is Bruce Wayne's head of security and lives in a comfortable trailer on the Wayne Estate — not in the decaying Wayne manor (Bruce now lives in a lake house).

Further information about Alfred is that he is a former officer of the British Special Air Service Unit, who has received training in several areas including weapons, intelligence gathering, and piloting all sorts of vehices and aircraft.

It's said today Alfred puts all his good training to use by helping Batman stay protected and well equipped.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" has a March 25, 2016 release starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg with Callan Mulvey, Holly Hunter as Senator Finch and Tao Okamoto as Mercy Graves. Justice League is to follow directed by Zack Snyder as well.

Synopsis:

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
