The Quantum Leap reboot continues to move forward as it is learned Helen Shaver will direct the pilot episode and serve as executive producer.
Helen Shaver is known for lots of high-quality TV projects, so the Quantum Leap reboot appears to so far be in good hands, with her shows she has worked on including Station Eleven, Maid, Vikings, Snowpiercer, Westworld, Lovecraft Country, Orphan Black, Travelers, Law & Order, Stargate, Jericho, Judging Amy, The 4400, The Outer Limits, and lots more.

Quantum Leap reboot is in good hands so far
The pilot is written and executive produced by Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt (La Brea, God Friended Me, Gotham, Hawaii Five-0) and executive produced by Blindspot creator Martin Gero as well as Quantum Leap creator and executive producer Donald Bellisario and EP/co-narrator Deborah Pratt.
Details for the Quantum Leap reboot include that it is a follow-up series set in the present time where it has been 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished; now a new team has been assembled to restart the project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it.
The report once again says that Scott Bakula is not presently involved to reprise his role or come back as a producer, but that Bakula is aware of the reboot and has had conversations about potentially getting involved, so cross your fingers.
Quantum Leap aired for 97 episodes from March of 1989 to May of 1993 and also starred Dean Stockwell, who recently passed away, as Admiral Al Calavicci, the hologram guiding Sam through his weekly time travel adventures.
