Todd Phillips Confirms ‘Joker’ 2 With Joaquin Phoenix

Director Todd Phillips confirms Joker 2 is in development as the director teases the script on Instagram and confirms Joaquin Phoenix.

Phillips posted two images on Instagram with the cover of the Joker 2 script which states “Joker Folie à Deux,” which translates to “Joker Madness for Two,” and we see it’s again written by Phillips and Scott Silver who wrote the first movie.

The second image features star Joaquin Phoenix reading the Joker 2 script confirming the actor will be back in the role of Gotham’s Clown Prince of Crime.

Folie à Deux is a psychiatric syndrome described as a shared psychosis or shared delusional disorder (SDD). It’s defined as an identical or similar mental disorder affecting two or more individuals, usually the members of a close family. The term folie à deux includes several syndromes in which mental symptoms, particularly paranoid delusions, are transmitted from one person to one or more others with whom the apparent instigator is in some way intimately associated so that he or she and they come to share the same delusional ideas.

The news that Joker 2 is underway isn’t all that surprising as it’s known new Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav is a big fan and Zaslav even asked Phillips to be an advisor on the DC films, according to THR, where it’s reported Phillips and Zaslav have a good rapport.

The first movie was released back in 2019 and made over a billion dollars at the box office, which was a big-time sleeper hit, as it’s become known that those in charge of WB at the time didn’t even want to move forward with the flick. With Discovery taking over Warner Bros., Zaslav has since cleaned house, and now we see the Joker sequel is happening.
