Tobey Maguire Holding Out On Spider-Man Return

Tobey Maguire Holding Out On Spider-Man Return

It’s claimed that Tobey Maguire is holding out on returning to the role of Spider-Man for the upcoming Sony and Marvel movie starring Tom Holland.

It’s been rumored that both Maguire and Andrew Garfield will return for Spider-Man 3, and while an erroneous report claimed that the actors had already signed, Sony recently shot down the claim.

YouTube Grace Randolph claims to have some insider information on the situation, as Randolph confirms with her sources that the deal is not yet done as it is claimed Tobey Maguire is holding out, not for more money, but more screen time.

ā€œI’m hearing Tobey Maguire doesn’t want more [money], turns out he wants more SCREEN TIME out of the suit, so he can really act in the film instead of swinging through it!ā€ tweeted Randolph.

And what should be no surprise, Randolph claims one idea being thrown around is for Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland to swing as their respective Spider-Man characters through Times Square (which should be a given).

ā€œAnd one idea is all the Spideys swing into Times Square,ā€ said Randolph.

So while the deal may not be officially done, it seems to just be a matter of working out the details, and it is pretty cool to see that Maguire wants more screentime as Spider-Man, as who wouldn’t want to see more from Maguire who starred in the Sam Raimi movies from the early 2000s.

Spider-Man 3 a Spider-Verse Multiverse flick

The best guess right now is that the untitled Spider-Man 3 will be a Spider-Verse flick pitting the different Spider-Man characters versus a Sinister Six from the Multiverse, as Jamie Foxx is confirmed to return as Electro from the Andrew Garfield The Amazing Spider-Man films.

Following the announcement of the return of Foxx, the actor posted fan art on social media featuring all three of the Spider-Man actors, so it pretty much seems a given, especially with the addition of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange who will also star in his own sequel, ā€œThe Multiverse Of Madness.ā€

Spider-Man 3 has a Dec. 17, 2021 release date directed by Jon Watts with the cast from the two previous movies expected back including Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Tony Revolori, and Jacob Batalon.
