Itâs learned James Gunnâs Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Marvel movie almost had a dick joke involving Kurt Russell and Dave Bautista.
GQ Magazineâs October 2016 issue features an interview with Kurt Russell, who plays Ego the Living Planet, the father to Star-Lord, in the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy.
This past Summer at Comic-Con saw footage drop featuring a scene between Russellâs Ego and Bautistaâs Drax. The clip shows Ego telling Drax that he has a penis. Kurt Russell let it be known that originally he said âdick.â
Hereâs the full write-up and quotes from the article:
Recently, at Comic-Con, a clip from the film was shown in which Ego attempts to clarify how a planet could have fathered a child. âYes, Drax,â he was widely reported as saying, âI made a penis.â
But Russell is keen to correct the record.
âThatâs an incorrect quote,â he says. âI go, âYes, Drax, Iâve got a penis!’âHe can recall that day at work very well. âWe did eight versions of it. The line was, âIâve got a dick.â And then somebody from Marvel world or whatever said, âYou should cover yourself and say âpenis,â too.â So the director said, âLetâs do one with âpenis.ââ So I did one with âpenisâ and thatâs the one they used.â
In fact this dilemma remains unresolved. âI canât decide which is funnier,â says the filmâs director James Gunn. Â For the moment itâs âdick.â
The article also states that Kurt Russelâs Ego the Living Planet is a planet that at times takes human form. Kurt Russel offered: âIâve never played anything like that. I mean thatâs a great thing to be able to say at my age.â
